Ubushina, a creative project that connects traditional Japanese techniques and designers, created a pendant lamp ‘ZK-01’. This series of extremely delicate pendant lampshades are made of unique 'translucent porcelain', developed at the Ceramic Research Center of Nagasaki, with a translucency of 30%.
Tomoco Suzuki, who is in charge of the development, said, “We used a special blend of materials, including vitreous material, with a high degree of transparency. Since this material is very delicate, we made many prototypes for size and shape. The porcelain series has several variants, including one with a traditional Japanese carved pattern.”
The plain model ZK-01 is available in the unglazed matte-textured ZK-01 and the glazed, ZK-01-U.
Besides, AL-04 has the same silhouette and is a black dyed aluminium shade with a hammered finish. The slight unevenness of the black-dyed surface and the hammered texture is an attractive feature.
DETAIL
Pendant lamp ‘ZK-01-U’ is made of unique translucent porcelain. High transparency is achieved by mixing vitreous materials.
‘AL-04’ was made of black dyed hammered aluminium.
